Mold Remediation After Leaks and Floods
Mold needs moisture to grow, and a leak or a flood supplies it. Our team removes the mold and dries out the source of the moisture. Call our 24/7 line and tell us what happened.
When Azle homeowners call us about mold
- Mold has appeared on drywall or baseboards in a room that got wet days or weeks ago.
- A musty smell lingers in a room that flooded or had a leak.
- Carpet, padding or ceiling tiles stayed damp and now have mold growing on them.
- The water was cleaned up, but the room never fully dried and the mold keeps coming back.
If water got in and something now looks or smells wrong, call. We would rather answer a short question than have you wait.
Why mold shows up after water damage
Mold needs water. According to the EPA, molds reproduce by tiny spores that float through outdoor and indoor air, and mold may begin growing indoors when spores land on surfaces that are wet. None of the many types of mold will grow without water or moisture, so a leak or flood that never fully dried is the usual starting point.
The EPA puts the idea in one line: the key to mold control is moisture control. It also says to dry water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth. When that window passes, or the water was never fully dried, mold can take hold. That is why we treat drying as part of every mold job, and why acting quickly matters: the EPA notes that mold damages what it grows on.
What mold remediation means for your home
Our crew removes the mold from the affected area and then dries out the source of the moisture. Both halves matter. The EPA says that if you clean up mold but do not fix the water problem, the mold problem will most likely come back.
Materials are handled by what they are. The EPA says porous materials such as ceiling tiles and carpet may have to be thrown away if they become moldy, because mold can be difficult or impossible to remove from them completely. Hard surfaces are different: the EPA describes scrubbing mold off them with detergent and water and drying them completely. We tell you what we see in your house and which materials can stay.
We do not paint or seal over mold. The EPA says not to paint or caulk moldy surfaces, and that paint over them is likely to peel.
The leak or roof that let the water in needs its own repair by the right contractor. Our job is the mold and the moisture it grew in.

Mold Remediation questions
How fast does mold start after water damage?
The EPA says to dry water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth.
Will mold come back after you remove it?
It is far less likely when the moisture is gone. The EPA says the key to mold control is moisture control, which is why we dry out the source as part of the job.
Can I just paint over it?
No. The EPA says not to paint or caulk moldy surfaces. The mold has to be cleaned up and the surface dried first.
Do you fix the leak that caused it?
No. We remove the mold and dry out the source of the moisture. The leak or the roof needs its own repair so the water does not return.
